Room 6 is a well-established group of textile artists that have come together, originally connected to the Foundation Degree in Stitched Textiles at Eastleigh College, to challenge and support its members and to provide regular opportunity for exhibiting at a professional level.

Members meet every two months on Mondays at the Granary Studio, Owslebury, Hampshire for an administrative meeting and mentoring sessions that could include work in progress sessions or group crits. Applicants should be willing to attend meetings regularly.

There is a membership fee of £5 per meeting to cover administration costs and hanging fee to cover costs for exhibitions, this might vary according to the exhibition venue costs.

The Application Process
Membership is open to anyone working in the medium of textiles. Applicants should be able to show a strong personal style, have exceptional skill in making and excellent knowledge of their chosen materials.

Applicants should contact the secretary consuelo simpson, simpson.consuelo@gmail.com for an application form, and should be prepared to send a CD of up to 8 images of their current work, a CV and a personal statement of approximately 300 words. Images may also be sent via Dropbox or WeTransfer. The group will meet to consider the applications and invite potentially successful applicants to present their work on Monday 12th December, a decision will be made within 28 days and it will be final.

Wow, great open studios this year

Well we have closed the doors on 2016 Hampshire Open Studios.. it has been an excellent ten days and we are planning to do it all again next year ….. here are a few pics from the Granary venue in Owslebury

We all love a wedding .. so, we all trouped out to watch the bride ….not the most flattering Pic taken by Viv Arthur who arrived with Jane as a surprise….

Lynn Onions was demonstrating hand quilting and Alison Hulme was demonstrating free machining and Consuelo Simpson was demonstrating tapestry weaving on a great frame .. .sadly I didnt think to get any pictures … I was intermittently demonstrating drawing wth the sewing machine.. lots of tea and coffee drunk, loads of cake and cookies eaten and good sales for our work … see you all at the |granary in Owslebury opposite the church next year … same time same place…. meanwhile we are working on our next exhibition… watch this space
